Description
Gin: Fords Officers’ Reserve
This boldly-flavoured over-proof gin from Ford’s is distilled at London’s Thames Distillers, before being rested in Amontillado sherry casks for three weeks.
Size: 750ML
Proof: 109 (54.5% ABV)
Origin: United Kingdom
Distillery: Thames Distillery
An overproof and cask-aged variant of Fords Gin, made with the same botanical recipe as the original, produced at Thames Distillers in London, then rested in 64 litre Amontillado sherry casks for three weeks. It’s then blended with a portion of the unaged gin, helping to balance the intensity of the oak notes imparted from the casks, and bottled at 54.5% ABV. We reckon this would make a great Last Word cocktail.
Fords Officers’ Reserve Gin Tasting Notes
Nose: Ford’s has created a gin with a citrus-led nose that is complimented by subtle spice, plum and caramel aromas.
Palate: The palate initially offers notes of honey and citrus which develop slowly into aromatic coriander, juniper and orange, with a subtle ginger undercurrent.
Finish: Finishes with a lightly tannic, citrus, and pepper fade with some tingling heat.
