Mandarine Napoléon is an amber colored orange liqueur made from the distillate of mandarin oranges blended with cognac. Other botanicals are also used in its production including green tea, cardamom, black tea, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. The recipe is said to have been created by a chemist who made the liqueur for Napoléon Bonaparte although the product didn’t get released to the public until 1892, well after both the chemist and Napoléon had died.
