Our unique mash bills were created in conjunction with longtime Seagram’s master blender, Pam Soule. Crafted from proprietary blends of our 100%-owned stocks, Old Hickory whiskeys are smooth, soft, balanced, wonderful executions of what good whiskey should be. Hermitage Reserve is our rye execution.
The history of Old Hickory is as unusual and complex as its namesake, President Andrew Jackson. The Hermitage Stamp, issued in 1956 as part of the Liberty Series, showcases the beautiful Greek revival mansion where Jackson and his wife Rachel frequently entertained guests at their home. It’s rumored that a fire in the mid-1800s destroyed a secret distillery on the Hermitage grounds. Our Hermitage Reserve Rye is a tribute to the rich bourbon culture and its authentic American roots.
Old Hickory Hermitage Reserve Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Corn and dandelion. After a sit, a sweet buttercream candy (not butterscotch) becomes quite noticeable.
Palate: Bright taste with a brief caramel taste. After a sit, chocolate becomes more apparent. A little mellowing and the buttercream from the nose makes an appearance.
Finish: Smooth, soft, balanced, wonderful executions of what good whiskey should be
Distillery Information
Each award-winning expression of Old Hickory is made from proprietary blends from our 100%-owned stocks. Our unique mash bills were created in conjunction with longtime Seagram’s master blender, Pam Soule, at the former site of the historic Joseph E. Seagram’s facility in Lawrenceburg, IN. The water we use to distill our whiskey is drawn from deep, rechargeable ancient glacial aquifers dating back 1.2 million years which formed the Ohio River basin as it looks today. All the corn is sourced from farms within a 250-mile radius of the distillery
